Geography & Location

Located approximately 1,200 kilometers east of mainland India, the Andaman Islands are part of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands union territory. The main islands include Port Blair (the capital), Havelock Island, Neil Island, and Baratang Island.

The islands are surrounded by the Bay of Bengal and are known for their diverse marine life, making them a haven for snorkeling and scuba diving enthusiasts.

Climate

The Andaman Islands enjoy a tropical climate with pleasant weather throughout most of the year. The best time to visit is from October to May when the weather is ideal for water activities and sightseeing.

Culture & Heritage

The Andaman Islands have a rich cultural heritage, with influences from various communities including Bengalis, Tamils, Telugus, and the indigenous tribes. The islands are also home to the Cellular Jail, a historic prison that played a significant role in India's freedom struggle.

Today, the Cellular Jail serves as a national memorial and hosts a moving light and sound show that narrates the stories of freedom fighters who were imprisoned here.
